Dorothy served the WDP International Committee as Administrative Secretary working in New York City from 1974 through 1986.
World Day of Prayer was dear to Dorothy Wagner. In World Day of Prayer she found integration for her abiding Christian faith, her commitment and compassion for the needs of women and children, and her deep desire for world peace. Dorothy valued the potential of World Day of Prayer to unite in prayer and action. She cherished every woman she met and welcomed many into her home and heart. Dorothy was excited to be part of this vibrant ecumenical, international movement and without measure she generously undertook the busy demanding work of WDP. She found in its challenges a match for her own abundant energy. Dorothy Wagner is very dear to World Day of Prayer and to me personally. Dorothy was my predecessor and a mentor when I succeeded her in January 1987. She generously shared the information and wisdom she has gained. It was presented as oil for my lamp as I continued the work she had carefully set in place. Her friendship continues to strengthen me; her example offers ongoing guidance. Honored by Eileen King |
