2023 World Day of Prayer Young Women's Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
November 19-26, 2023
The WDP Young Women’s Pilgrimage to the Holy Land will take place November 19-26, 2023. This faith deepening and relationship building trip will bring together a group of young women from throughout the world who are engaged with, and passionate about the World Day of Prayer. We will meet in the Holy Land to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, and to build connections with the “living stones” of Christians who live there today. Participants will experience learning, accompanying and serving, with significant time set aside for prayer, spiritual reflection and dialogue.
ABOUT THE PILGRIMAGE: We will spend the first 2 nights of our journey in Jerusalem, and then move to Bethlehem, where we will be based for the remaining 5 nights. We will visit sacred places, including the Church of the Nativity, Shepherds’ Field, the Sea of Galilee, Jericho, the Jordan River, the Temple Mount, the Room of the Last Supper, the Garden of Gethsemane, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Garden Tomb. We will also meet with Christian women involved with the World Day of Prayer movement in the Holy Land, learning more about their faith, lives and experiences. |
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the WDP Young Women’s Pilgrimage is for participants to immerse themselves in the culture and community that wrote the WDP program for 2024. Participants will also build relationships and connections with other young WDP women from around the world. The hope is that each participant will bring knowledge and experience back to her home, and enrich her own country’s celebration of World Day of Prayer in 2024. Each participant will also be asked to offer a reflection to the worldwide movement, in a form such as writing a blog, creating a video, composing music, or creating artwork.
This pilgrimage will be limited to 14 participants, ages 21-35, representing the 7 regions of the World Day of Prayer movement.
To apply, email us at admin@worlddayofprayer.net for an application form. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 15, 2023. Decisions will be communicated by Friday, June 2, 2023.
