In 2004 Marilyn was nominated by the National United Church Women of the United Church of Canada to be their representative for the World Day of Prayer Canada national committee. At The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada, she was nominated as WDP Canada liaison and served in this position until she was nominated as a representative of the Caribbean/North America (CANA) Region on the World Day of Prayer International Committee in 2007. In 2012 she was asked to be a part of the Executive Advisory Board to the WDPIC as the Vice – Chairperson.
She feels she has been privileged to pray alongside and with other Christian women especially in the CANA Region. She has been actively involved in developing national committees to create stronger ecumenical ties between the women of the region so that each country can continue to grow through World Day of Prayer. She has developed and actively promotes a WDP Festival Day in Belleville, Ontario Canada. This is to help WDP participants become more familiar with the writer country. While helping with suggestions for speakers, cultural foods, music, and encouraging bible studies she thinks it is very important that the committee understands the issues that the women have presented. She has communicated regularly with WDP liaisons in the region, provided us with contact information for each other, and kept us informed of what is happening on the world stage. Her deep involvement in WDP has led to an increased call to active ministry and she is currently studying to become a Licensed Lay Worship Leader. Marilyn has been my friend and mentor as I carried out my duties as WDP liaison for Canada and attending conferences in Toronto and New York. Honored by Glenda Klein
